1. Please do not send us an article that has already been published in another
journal, unless you can supply us with explicit permission from the publisher of
the other journal.
2. Please do not send us papers that contain in part or in full the work of others and
pass this off as your own work.
3. Write your article using Microsoft Word or a word processing program that is
compatible with Word. Use a common, easy–to–read font such as Calibri or
Times New Roman.
4. Structure your article well. Include an introduction and conclusion, and guide the
reader through the body of your article with informative headings.
5. Use words and phrases that should be understood by a good Grade 12 student.
Do not try to impress by using terms that are familiar only to highly educated
specialists.
6. We prefer writers to use footnotes. Footnotes give readers convenient access to
references and additional information. Make sure you use the “Insert footnote”
function, which you can find on the References tab in Word.
7. Please also include a complete list of resources you consulted for your article at
the end. Use a referencing style that is widely used and accepted, so others can
find those books, articles or web pages too.
8. Ideally we want articles that are between 4000–6000 words in length. We will
reject articles that have the same information repeated in different words in
different sections to extend their length! We will also reject articles that we judge
as being insufficiently related to pastoral and socio–cultural issues in Melanesia.
9. Send your article as an email attachment to the MI General Editor using this email address: sales.emmai@gmail.com. Your article will be considered for publication at a meeting of the MI’s Editorial Committee. The General Editor will collect feedback on your article and let you know of the committee’s decision. The General Editor may invite you to respond to committee members’ comments by rewriting parts of your paper. Alternatively, if your paper only requires minor spelling or grammatical corrections, the editor will do this and send you the final version to check and approve. Of course you have the right to withdraw your paper if you are unhappy with editing work done on it.
Please note that we also welcome letters to the editor concerning articles published in previous issues of Catalyst. We will consider publishing high quality letters, but will only do so with the letter writer’s permission.
